Malt Silo

Malt Silo

The main grain raw materials of the brewery are barley malt, wheat malt, rice flour, etc. The storage and conveying of malt may take the form of either flat warehouses or vertical silos. Flat warehouses are the optimal choice for breweries with bag packaging and limited storage capacity. Silos are more suited to the storage of bulk raw materials than flat warehouses, they offer a relatively high storage capacity. Breweries should ensure their storage capacity for various malts and adjunctive grain meets a 10 to 30-day supply requirement. The silo system not only meets the storage needs of the company but also enables automatic material supply, thus saving labor costs.

Performance characteristics

  • Storage capacity: 100-1500 cubic meters single silos
  • Good fluidity: free fluidity, suitable for use with grains such as barley malt
  • Self-unloading: The cone-bottom grain steel silo is erected on a supporting steel frame structure, enabling customers to unload products using gravity easily.
  • Easy unloading: The prefabricated cone bottom grain steel silo is constructed with a corrugated silo wall panel design that allows for easy grain discharge. The inner wall is smooth, and there are no steps or flanges.
  • Available automatic access: The cone-bottom grain steel plate silo is constructed to a certain height from the ground, to protect the stored materials from moisture. This allows adjacent steel plate silos to be interconnected through transmission devices, facilitating the on-demand extraction of malt and other raw materials.

Configuration features

  • Cone bottom: Depending on the materials to be stored, the cone bottom angle is typically designed at 45° or 60°, to accommodate the varying fluidity of raw materials.
  • The incoming and outgoing materials are equipped with a bucket elevator, which has a small footprint, vertical lifting and high lifting capacity. It can realize automatic unloading of vehicles into warehouses.
  • The silo’s top and bottom are equipped with a horizontal En-Masse conveyor, enabling the automated loading and unloading of different silos without manual labor.
  • The silo is fitted with a secure operating platform on the roof for daily inspections, maintenance, and other necessary tasks.
